Microchip dsPIC33CK CAN FD Software Driver
June 1, 2020, Terre Haute, IN – Simma Software, Inc. announced today the release of a high performance CAN FD device driver for the Microchip dsPIC33CK microcontroller. The release of this CAN driver adds to the growing list of MCUs that Simma Software supports and are used in conjunction with the major CAN protocols including J1939, ISO 15765, UDS, CANopen, XCP, and NMEA 2000.
The dsPIC33CK family features a single 100 MIPS 16-bit dsPIC DSC core with an ample list of on-chip peripherals including CAN flexible data rate (CAN FD). CAN FD features network speeds up to 5 Mbps and data payloads up to 64 bytes. The DSCs allow for the design of high performance, precision motor control systems with low power consumption. They are also well suited for use in other high-performance general-purpose designs and applications.
The CAN software for the dsPIC33CK adds to an already robust list of supported Microchip parts. According to JR Simma, the firm’s founder and current Director of Engineering, “We have a long history with the dsPIC33 starting with the dsPIC33F and dsPIC33E families. With customers employing CAN FD into new designs, we prioritized doing the development work to support the dsPIC33CK.”
