Simma Software Reaches Significant Milestone with 15th Year of Business
Press release date: March 1, 2019
Simma Software, Inc. Continues to Thrive and Grow
March 1, 2019, Terre Haute, IN – 2019 marks the 15th year of operations for Simma Software, founded by JR Simma in 2004. The business started with a single large customer that hired Mr. Simma to design custom software for an ABS system and tire pressure inflation monitor for both military and commercial vehicles. The company expanded beyond custom software development in 2006, and began to offer CAN device drivers, protocol stacks, and bootloaders.
In 2011 the firm added hardware design and manufacturing to their business mix with the launch of the Vehicle Network Adapter (VNA). The VNA product line now includes three different interfaces including RS232, USB, and Bluetooth. With the Department of Transportation enacting the ELD mandate in late 2017, Simma was able to grow their VNA business substantially as customers with ELD-compliant Android and iOS applications selected the VNABluetooth to acquire truck data. This has resulted in Simma eclipsing the milestone of 100k VNA units deployed.
Having over 1000 global customers with software deployed in millions of units, Simma Software has experience working with microcontrollers from all of the major manufacturers. They are members of the Microchip Design Partner Program, the NXP Partner Program, the STMicroelectronics Partner Program, and are the preferred CAN solutions provider for Texas Instruments’ global customer base.
