Microchip PIC32MX/PIC32MZ J1939 Bootloader

December 7, 2018, Terre Haute, IN – Simma Software, Inc. announced today the release of a high-performance J1939 flash bootloader for the Microchip PIC32 family. With the release of this software package, the firm has now developed custom flash bootloader software for more than 30 different microcontrollers. Standard bootloader packages include security, encryption, and a user-friendly PC interface.

The various CAN based bootloaders that are supported by Simma include J1939, UDS, XCP, and CANopen. Many other interfaces are supported such as Bluetooth (both classic and Bluetooth Low Energy), Ethernet, RS232, and USB.

The Microchip PIC32 families combine 32-bit performance with a large memory configuration and a rich integrated peripheral set at a low cost. For this specific project, the PIC32 bootloader software was designed to work with both PIC32MX and PIC32MZ devices. This allows the end customer to use the same bootloader software package for the two PIC32 hardware platforms.
